Research

My journey into empirical research began during a history camp sponsored by the Concord Review the summer after the first year of the COVID-19 pandemic. This experience revealed my interest and aptitude for research and sparked a desire to delve deeper into the field. While the pandemic presented numerous challenges, it also opened up opportunities for accessible distance learning through platforms such as Coursera, Edx, and YouTube. These resources allowed me to explore meaningful questions and satisfy my curiosity through investigative methods.

By utilizing these online platforms during the pandemic, I was able to achieve significant milestones in my budding research career. This period of intense learning and exploration culminated in the publication of two papers, with another currently under review (see below). I am also very excited to be presenting my paper at the 2024 American Educational Research Association in Philadelphia, PA on April 11, 2024! These accomplishments are a testament to the power of digital learning environments to facilitate meaningful academic inquiry and research.

In addition, I have had the privilege of sharing some of my research through the Korea Herald's Herald Insight, the largest English-language newspaper in South Korea. This opportunity to share my work with a wider audience has been incredibly rewarding and has underscored the importance of research in contributing to public discourse and knowledge.

Poster Presentation

I performed an exploratory study to assess the increasingly growing difference in social satisfaction among Korean teenagers. Specifically, I examined Korean teenagers’ perspectives on gender equality and feminism. I collected questionnaire data from 160 teenagers to amass a more comprehensive understanding of gender polarization among teenagers in South Korea. Ultimately, I hope to bring attention to potential solutions for addressing gender polarization.
